I finally got my stance the way I want it, but am not encountering some rubs above the tire on the inner fender well on the passenger side. I've not driven it much yet, but it rubbed twice after getting to the bottom of a hill.

The truck is a 79 Silverado stepside.

Originally, I installed 3" drop spindles. After that I got new wheels and tires. I have 275/45/20's on.

Still didn't like the stance, so I dropped it 2 more inches with new springs.

I have about 1.5" of space above the tire. The tires measure about 30" tall.

Couple questions.

Any idea on how much more space I need to eliminate the rub?

Is there any possibility of heating the well up where it's rubbing and banging on it to push it upwards to free up some clearance?

Any other options that don't include new wells or installing 1" springs?

Appreciate the help!

If it is "friendly contact" then it is fine.

That is, if it hits every so often on a smooth part of the wheelwell it won't cause any damage other than rubbing the paint off.

Agreed.
My 2001 Silverado did this from time to time, when at the bottom of a hill or something. It never ruined any of my tires, and just kept the under side of the inner fender shinny. ;)
