I was given this truck by my uncle a few days ago after helping him on the farm. I remember riding with my grandfather to the stockyard in this truck when I was a kid. I’m 42 now and retired so I have nothing but time on my hands to fix this thing. ‘84 Custom Deluxe with the L6 engine...3 speed on the column. It’s been sitting in the bushes the last 10 years. Body is in great shape but under the hood needs some work. The truck has 76k original miles on it. Something is going on with the ignition. There have been some wires cut/frayed/chewed and when I turn the key on the fasten seat belt light will come on but will not turn the motor over. I wanted to work on the motor first to make sure it was operable before I went any further so we installed a push button to crank it until I get the wiring figured out. Got the motor running and the throttle kept sticking but got that figured out. Clutch was stuck for a bit but fixed that. Looks like it has been de-smogged as there are only a couple of hoses here and there. Exhaust system is rusted out so I will work on that next so I can hear myself think every time I crank it. It will take some time but I’m enjoying it so far!
