You can get by with the shafts. Not for very long though. Will need to do bearings and shafts. I'd say no more than 10,000 miles for sure. BUT if the rest of the diff is good still, I would recommend changing as soon as possible before your diff is bathed in metal shavings and takes it all out.

I can't speak on the small gear teeth. Does kind of looked cracked and distorted. But again I don't know what it should look like .

Thanks, that’s helpful. I was doing bearings when I found the other issues. I tend to long term fixes rather than short. So I guess new shafts it’ll be.

I think I found a picture of the Eaton gov lok cam gear. It should be flat and mine is definitely not flat. So, I guess a new carrier it is too.

Are Yukon 1541 shafts and Eaton Detroit locker good selections?

The cam gear looks ok to me? Those appear to be lines in the casting. It also looks flat, after inspecting the photo for a bit. The waffering on the backside of the side gear made it look like of those goofy carnival mirrors at first.

It is definitely not flat. I felt it. But sounds like you’re confirming it should be flat?

Anyone advise between Dana 2022600 or Yukon 21254 axle shafts? They both seem to be 1541 material, the Yukons are double. I can’t figure out why.

I have the Yukons on my K5. Great quality and very good machine work.

The Dana is made out of 1541 steel and the Yukon from 1541H steel what I can see from the descriptions.
1541H is harder and stronger than 1541.

Maybe the cool polar bear logo adds some extra $.

If our definition if "flat" is the same in this case. It should be round with no runout.

I'm guessing you get the cool sticker with the polar bear on it too.
