Hey everyone, I have a 1987 Chevy V10 5.7L and the fuel pump appears to have gone bad. I ordered a new one and had a local mechanic try to install it but when he dropped the tank the bad pump didn't match the one I had bought. The one I had bought has four sending units and the bad pump currently on the fuel tank only has 3 sending units. Every pump I look up online for a 1987 V10 has 4 sending units. Clearly I have the wrong part but I dont know what pump I need. I bought the truck about 2 years ago used and dont know the complete history of it but I was told it had been "restored" at a Chevrolet dealership before being resold to the guy I bought it from. Attached is a picture of my old pump and the new pump and of the truck. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Just pull the pump off the new sending unit and put it on the old sending unit I just replaced both my pumps on a R20 not the sending units.

That is a replaceable pump. Don't need the entire unit. If just the pump is replaced inspect the wiring connectors for overheating. Actually, it is a good idea just to replace the wire harness inside the tank. It isn't expensive. Also recommend using a Delphi pump. Many other brands aren't worth the box they come in. Buy a new strainer.

Yep, that is a sending unit for a blazer/suburban rear fuel tank. The saddle tanks don't use the screw on metric fuel fittings, The fourth fitting on the blazer tank is for the fuel fill vent connection, where the saddle tanks have that built in to the tank, not the sending unit.

I would get the entire unit if you can. What would happen to me if it was my truck is the tank sending unit would go bad 3 months down the line. LOL

For future reference, I typically look up replacement parts on the Rock Auto site..part numbers and pictures are provided, can be a big help for identification purposes.
