I have a dilemma. I have fuel tank that I was told was 40 gal from a suburban.
Dimensions of tank seem right but I cannot identify the pump.
You must be registered for see images attach

My problem is the placement of the connecting lines make removing the retaining ring impossible.
As the single line that is pointing to right in picture is just an open vent inside the tank I wonder if I could just cut it off closer to where it exits the pump. Tank is a transplant so connecting lines is not a problem.
Any other ideas?

I’d replace that grungy ass looking sender.
But if that’s not the choice I’d then be more than happy to recommend cutting that tubing if you’re sure you won’t need it.
Then plug it or slip another hose over it and vent it somewhere with a filter on it.

Thats appears to be a 87-91 tbi truck fuel sending unit, whats weird is the right hand line, most of the time they are pointed upwards from the orientation of the picture, and their spout is pretty short so you can slip the ring off.

I don’t understand the dilemma. You’re just trying to get the locking ring off?
Or trying to replace the sender/pump in kind?
Or trying to replace it with an older model sender for a mechanical fuel pump?

My dilemma is actually a variant of the first. Getting a new locking locking ring on.
I can always cut the old ring to remove it, but getting a new ring on is a problem.
Also considering replacement so I checked this pump with the pump from a different
89 'burb project and while both are 4 output the layout of the tubes is different.
Will be testing sender height and resistance for compatibility as I have no idea which year and model original is from so ordering new is also a problem.

Well finally getting back to this project.
This sending/pump unit seems to gas filler on one side and fuel lines on the other which is how I would like to set up my system.
As eskimomann209 suggests I would love to replace this with a new unit but i need to identify source to buy replacement, and getting locking ring on may still be a problem.
I am setting up for TPI so I need the 4 tube option. May just have to change plans and put both lines and filler on drivers side.
