Found a 4l80 with t-case

So a buddy of mines Dad has a 4l80 and t-case combo out of a 93 3/4 Ton for a great price. My questions are what should I look for to make sure it is a 4 l80 and what t-case it is? Also what should I stay away from? He said the truck it came out of was wrecked that's why I'm asking and also where would the serial numbers be located on them?

Well, a 4l80e is easy to tell if you know what one looks like, so you can look on google photo's to see what one looks like. It's easy to tell the difference between a 4l80E and a 700R4.

Not sure what the Transfer case will be but unless you are putting it in another IFS truck or swapping to a driver's side drop axle, like out of a Dodge or something then you probably won't be able to use it on a square because a 93 truck should be an IFS truck, if I remember correctly.

Here is a small photo of the business side of a 4l80E to help you determine what it looks like. It might not be so notable marked but if it has that big box on the side and the hash marks on the bell housing then that is your run of the mill 4L....
