I pulled the cluster to fix the dash lights and turn signals. I found two loose connectors (purple/purple&black)(orange/black) which I would like to know their purpose. The low coolant light always stays on so I unplugged it since I’m not using that electronic circuit on my carbureted 350 and I have a temp gauge. I got the turn signals working but then the stopped blinking, gonna check fuse and flasher when weather improves. Lots of mystery wires but for now Anyone help identify the other two loose connectors?

His data on the posts says 1983. I bet there's a wiring diagram for this in the archives

Could be 4low and 4hi lights. I've seen some 2wds that had the wires just in case it was going to be built a 4x4. (That's my opinion)

1983 K20, sorry forgot to include. I didn’t notice any empty holes in the cluster where these would fit. I’m not so sure the cluster is original.

Which indicator lamps don’t have bulb holders in them? If they are for idiot lights you can shine a flashlight in the open hole and read what lights up on the front.

The only two I noticed were the low coolant and seat belt lights, The seat belt light didn’t want to come out so I couldn’t look inside since I couldn’t get it completely removed. I guess I can remove the fuel and speedo gauges to look behind them. The speedo cable was giving me fits when I reinstalled the cluster. That didn’t work either on my drive to the car wash yesterday. I was able to spin it and it moved so I’m guessing it’s either the cable or connector at the transfer case. I assume the remaining were dash lights, probably not a good assumption. Only a couple dash lights worked. I replaced a bunch of bulbs and it lights up much better. Lots of broken and metal cuts on the dash, PO(s) did some hacking, I have many wires spliced and twisted with some electrical tape, geez, some people shouldn’t be working on chit. Notice a lot of drill holes in weird spots today as well….brutal to open up the can of worms.

@mxer147 welcome to the jungle as we say when it comes to electric issues and PO’s. We had the same mess 2 years ago when Easton bought the truck. It was a mess. After paint, slowly hooking things back up we would troubleshoot and repair these issues one at a time. We were afraid we did not have the skills to do a full rewire so it was one problem at a time. Everyone here was so helpful with all the gremlins we were chasing.
Finally can say we have simplified everything now and cleaned everything up and everything works, except horn in the steering wheel at this point. He has a horn button installed in a PO hole in the dash. The ground in the column wire cluster is not good. So we will run a 14 gauge wire up column and attack to the horn eventually as time allows.
There are times you just have to walk away.. but eventually you will get it!
Just remember, good grounds are important if you are having issues.

Keep us posted

If I’m reading the wiring diagram correctly, it looks like those two are for water in fuel and glow plugs.

I took pictures of my water in fuel and glow plug lights in my dash but I can't figure out how to upload any photos.

Click on the paper clip and then choose the picture wherever it is saved to.

It's saying my picture size is too large ever time I try to load it.
