I bought a 77 Chevy C10 step side in March (during a snow storm) and have been slowing restoring it (everytime I drive it something breaks!) So instead of working on the body like my intentions, I've been working on the driving/stoping components.

It only has a 4.1 in it, little inline 6. It wants to stall when taking off, so you have to take off extremely slow and then it's fine. The guy who I purchased it from blocked off and re-routed a bunch of vacuum lines and disconnected the EGR valve. Does anyone have any good pictures of this motor and the proper way the vacuum lines should be ran? I've had the hardest luck here. I'm also thinking about replacing the EGR valve and the carb (there seems to be 4 different single barrel carbs for this model). Any help/pointers would be great!

I've already had to replace power steering pump/lines, brake lines (he didn't mount them correctly and they rubbed holes in them), radiator, and fuel tank/components/mounts.

My goal was to start replacing rusted body parts, but this thing was less mechanically sound than I thought :(

Sounds like you have some kind of vacuum leak. Is it an automatic or manual? On turbo 350's the vacuum modulator line can fall off and create a vacuum leak and it won't be noticeable from the engine bay.

It's an automatic. Just got it back today from the shop with new fuel tank, sending unit, tank mounts and straps! There were some pretty bad lines that they fixed for me too. Time to work on this stalling issue now when taking off.
