Hey I just recently fixed a pin whole in the right side gas tank. Filled the tank and flipped the switch it switched tanks with a bit of fiddling around with the switch. After switching tanks my gas gauge went what past full so I switched back to the left tank but the gas gauge did not go back to empty, I am almost 100% sure it switched because I can hear my file pump repressurise the lines. Any help would be much appreciated.

What year? 70's had a different tank switch than the 80's.

71 isn’t a square body and I’m pretty sure they all had cab tanks behind the seat...no dual tanks.

what do you mean by hearing the pump pressurize the lines? Chevy/GMC trucks had just a mechanical fuel pump on the block up to 1986 when they switched to tbi in 87.

maybe you have an action line body mounted to a square body frame?

Duh his fuel pump in the tanks on his carbureted squarebody 1971 c/k1500.
Everyone knows the fuel pump(s) pressurizes the line(s) leading to the mech pump.
It’s also got a vortecanado tbi 350 innit

I think it's a 81. This year is in his profile information. 7 and 8 close to each other on the smartphone.

If that’s the case , the selector is electronic. Maybe that’s what he’s hearing. I’m not sure of the years but some are recommended to hold the selector button for a few seconds to help the selector switch tanks.

Sorry my fat finger hit the wrong number it's an 81 k10. It's got a fitech 600 system with a race pump for those talking about it.
