Any opinions on the best OEM-like dash replacement? LMC sells one for about $300 but I know others sell them too. Any opinions on what to get (or not get)?

Brother's Truck Parts also sells one. I haven't bought one from either yet, although i need one down the road. I guess if you're replacing more than the dash (instrument cluster, nearby interior trim, etc) i'd stick to one seller. Also considering your chosen site has it all in stock. Hope that helps

I went through this exercise a few months ago and believe the best value for an OEM type (vacuum molded vinyl) at the time was The Car and Truck Shop.
I have yet to install the one I purchased there, although comparing it to the original one removed, it appears to be of the same quality and no obvious differences that may cause fitment issues.
Just an option. Also, I needed a blue one and not all suppliers had that in stock as I recall.

I'm going with USA-1 Industries. They use a metal insert and are the only ones I know of that have Charcoal. Times are at least 8 weeks out though. My wife ordered me some sunvisors for Christmas and they're still not here.

Mine is cracked and ripped so bad so I don’t know that it can be refinished. USA-1 looks good, but pricey and several months out to get. I might take a shot with the LMC one and see how it goes. I’ll let you know once I get it in.

Recovering your original dash pad......

What material do they normally use? Will it have any longevity in the sun as compared to the original?

I need a new pad. I’m all for having my original covered if it has a chance of surviving the Texas sun for years. Recovering at $350 is cheaper than any new replacement I’ve seen.

Mine was in bad shape. They sand it down, pad it and cover it - even leave the holes for speakers upon request.

I didn't ask what the cover is made of but several people I talked to have had theirs for a 3+ years and they still look good. I think it is a marine grade vinyl.

I used PG Auto Upholstery in north Ft Worth - http://www.pgupholstery.com/index.html

Make sure to leave a message or text him, he's usually in the back working on stuff.

Thanks Scott!
I will probably go that route when the time comes.

By the way, I just saw them wrap a damaged dash on the Wheeler Dealers show yesterday.

Yep. Mine was mutilated. Once you float out the holes and glue on the vinyl covering it’s hard to tell there was ever an issue.

I hear the ones from LMC and JCWhitney or any of the cheaper options are a hard plastic (think like a modern economy car's dash), not a vinyl wrapped foam like the original.
