Hi guys, Im mid stride in the cummins install in the 74 C20, and it only has vacuum brakes, stock stuff.
what has everyone upgraded to, with the weight of a diesel in the front end?
Hydroboost? or are these brakes I have good enough?
while I have the front end off it's a good time to think of these things....
thanks for your input!

you have to do hydra boost. diesel do not have vacuum. the vacuum pump are meant to run accessories not brakes. highdesertranger

maybe a vacuum accumulator would help, but i'll try the vacuum brakes first see how they are.

Hydroboost is trick or power steering pump will run brakes. Early 80 s front springs are strongest with 1400lb rate they had GM diesel.

Hydro boost is pretty simple on a Chevy since so many of them got it from the factory.

The VE pumped Cummins trucks had a vacuum pump on them for brakes, as mentioned above.

So it really just depends on what you have now, if you have nothing, I'd just do factory hydro boost, if you have the vacuum pump on your donor, I'd use that.
