Damn, I think you've had some planetaries explode or something. That' the only thing way back there. Maybe some bushings have gone bad and allowed the output shaft and sun gear to get all catty whompus. Still good for hard parts donor.

That couldn't just be from abuse and a heavy ass t-case?

Maybe a broken Trans/Tcase mount, Apapter bolts coming loose or something of that nature, but if all that's good, I'd say something inside the trans did it. Maybe a bad bushing at the back of the case allowed the output shaft and sun gear to jump around. I'd sure like to disect it and do an autopsy on it. I love tearing down and finding carnage to figure out what did what.

it still ran and had all gears shifted fine with no grinding or noises

it had a 203 hanging off the back with a pto on the side of that. a lot of weight hanging on the tranny is what I think broke it

the frame is bent really bad in front of the tranny mount I think that might have put a lot of stress on the tranny

Yep, that's the likely culprit right there. That's not common to see Th400's do.

yeah that bent frame probably had something to do with that crack. when you get a new case make sure it's a 4x4 case. maybe someone put a 2wd case in. highdesertranger
