Correct transmission

Is a TH350 or a TH400 correct for a 73 C20 with max payload. 14 bolt FF rear.

I don’t know if that info is here or not but for some reason I thought it would have been a TH350.

Back then it may have depended on the mood along the assembly line that day or many other things. Some times there was no rhyme or reason for what went into what. Most of the stuff that came into our dealership was kinda what you would figure,350 V-8 and Turbo 350 trans or 454's and 400's(2WD)

M49 is TH350

M40 is TH400

Of course that’s only helpful if you have Your SPID.
