I sent a Dodge Ram bumper out to CA several years ago and I don't remember it being that much. Less than $20 IIRC.
I just wrapped it with a box of cheap plastic kitchen wrap, stuck the shipping label under one of the layers and took it
down to a local UPS pickup location. It made it the trip fine.

Had a pair of d30 bumpers shipped from Texas to Michigan. Don't recall what tha shipping was, but it wasn't enough to stop me from doing it.

I dunno, I shipped a package to Arizona, only weighed 7.4 pounds and cost $24.00. UPS and they were the cheapest.
