Apologies in advance if this is dumb question of the day. I know enough to get by and be dangerous…

I would like to put larger rotors/calipers on the front of my ‘86 C10 and if possible move the OM rotors/calipers (1”) to the rear replacing the drums.

Will stock front disc brakes fit on the rear?

There are multiple disc conversion articles on the internet and several of them use Cadillac rear disc brakes because then you also get the emergency brake mechanism. I’m not sure if the stock squarebody front disc setup will work on the back, but you would definitely then have to figure how to do an emergency brake.

I expect that you also need to use and adjustable proportioning valve so you can tweak the pressures for front/rear.

I assumed you couldn’t but as I looked at conversion kits all four discs look identical and I started to question it. Hadn’t even considered the E-brake.

Thanks!

You must be registered for see images attach

I think your caliper looks like that

I would say its difficult because you need to make a knuckle then.

but rear brakes arent usually floating calipers either. they are usually fixed.
