I am in the middle of redoing the interior of my 89 Crew Cab, adding the missing headliner and doing a stereo install.

This is what I started with.

The original interior color was red, which has been given a half @$$ hack job to convert it to black.

Besides the garbage attempt/execution the headliner, rear seat mounts and a few other items were missing.

I started by pulling the interior door panels out of a 91 parts Suburban that I have. Since Suburbans have a better chance of being in good shape, this is what I started with.

I don’t like the factory pouches, they look cheesy to me (no offense meant!) and I wanted the Crew Cab interior trim.

I also will be ditching the factory pull straps that are always broken.

Along with the updates, I will be ditching the rear ash trays - Sorry, no smoking in my ride.

Stripped the panels bare and gave them a good cleaning with paint prep scuffing paste which has both a soap and a scuffing agent in it.

Filled the holes, added a few coats of filler in prep for paint.

Shot some black epoxy primer...(don't forget the adhesion promoter!)

...then coated and textured the panels.

I will wait about a week and hit them with some Dark Carmine that I got from USA1 - turns out it is a perfect match.

I liked the color so much that I had some Base Coat Urethane and Gloss Solid Body Urethane paint mixed up to match for...well, not sure yet???

Still to come are the custom lower panels that will house the speakers, rear sub install, redo the dash, color the headliner trim red and install the headliner…..

The truck didn't have a headliner and was missing a bunch of interior trim.

After screwing around trying to make a donor Suburban headliner board work, I gave up and stole the board out of an 83 CC that I have.(will be for sale soon!)

That is real 100% 16oz Scottish Wool.

I even have some left over for the misses to make herself a matching skirt (didn't ever say that I wasn't tacky)

Stole the interior trim pieces that I could from the donor Suburban and purchased a couple of aftermarket parts online.

But they were all the wrong color, not anymore.

Never liked GM's crappy pull strap design. Like they couldn't have designed those NOT to break!!!!

So I made my own filler pieces

Prepped, epoxied, base coated and cleared them. I was going to give them a matte finish, but I like the gloss finish.

Three door handle pads from the donor Burb and one from the brown C30, a little epoxy primer, a little red paint...

Looks Great!! Really shows what a little patience and attention to detail can do to benefit one of these "ole bricks" we like!!! LOL I believe @Goldie Driver is looking for some of those ashtrays you are deleting. Looking forward to seeing the finished pics!!!
