You may notice I implemented Reputation for the forum. It's intended to be a good tool and give a pat on the back, or credit to those who actively participate in the forum with VALUABLE information. Used correctly by the forum members it's a great tool. It's a tool that must be taken seriously to benefit the forum and why many forum owners don't use it. So it's here for a trial basis for now, and we'll see how we do with it. I'd really like to see it work out, so let's give it our best shot.

First tip I'll suggest, is think real hard about giving someone a negative reputation comment. This is more intended to pat a guy on the back, or say, Thanks for the information, help or input than it is to run someone down. It's not a place to voice that you don't like someone and give them a negative comment. It's also not a place to give them a negative if you don't like the tires they bought, or the color they chose to paint their truck. Just remember the quote, "If you don't have anything good to say, Don't say nothing at all" The reputation system would work better if we all just pretend there is not a negative comment feature involved.

I'll be adding more here later.

Good idea. It gets abused on other forums though. However, I think everyone here is mature enough not to abuse it.

You're right, and that's why Shaggy didn't want to use it, and why it's on trial basis to see how it goes. I'm also here frequenlty to watch how it's being used. I've set it up with some limits so hopefully it won't get abused in the positive way too, like buddies just giving buddies rep comments. A person can only give 10 rep comments in a 24 hour period, and a person can only give the same person a rep comment every 10th person. I may lower that to 5 since it does seem it's the same players who are giving the good info and doing tech write ups, so I'd hate to see someone get shorted when they really deserve it, just to keep someone from abusing it. This system is just like many things in this world, it only takes a couple asshats to ruin it for everyone, and especially those who deserve it.

Ok, how do we already have them? And how do you view.

You have some rep power based on how long you've been a member, and some for how many posts you've made. Like for every 100 posts you make, you get a point. For every 90 days you're a member you get a point. Default was 365 days as a member, and for every 1000 posts, but I lowered that to be more reasonable. And just to keep some from posting to increase reputation with worthless BS, I've eliminated some categories to count as post count. So if those areas are posted in, no rep credit. I'm trying to set it up to be fair as possible, and not get taken advantage of.

My stuff doesn't show at all for some reason. My Rep Power came up to 75 put it's showing 2. :wtf: You moderators stuff is correct though.

You can see your last 10 commnets in your USER CP, as of now, we don't have any commnets, so it should be empty. Only credit you should have now is for posts, and time as a member.

Sound fair to you all so far???

So does a neg subtract from your score or show as a separate tally?

Sounds like a cool way to say thanks. Almost like a cyber-handshake.

yes, negatives do subtract from your score and your power status.
