Kind of a messed up title lol but I figured this subject needed a thread all to its own! I'll be getting pics as I can get em, hopefully in action on the trail!!

First up, tonight I got my first glimpse at my buddy's 79 longbed Chevy, 30 over 350, B&M TH350, NP205 t-case, 12 bolt rear/D44 front, ?.?? gears...

Unusual body lift, looks like 4- 1-1/2" metal pucks stacked and welded, and about 8" of spring lift...

They are heavily discussing putting this in it...

496 (454 bored 0.120" I think) dynoed at mid 800 HP, not including the 500 shot of nox recently installed on it. Needless to say they are wanting to race it! But they really need to do something about the driveline and that body lift. For now though they're going to run the 350 and do a few runs on the hill with all of us, should be a badass truck to watch go to work!

I forgot to put that in there!! 39.5x15x15 TSLs and they look BRAND NEW. I'm scared to say how much he gave for it you guys wouldn't believe me. Guy wanted $4,000 to begin with but he couldn't get it started. My buddy didn't tell him the + was unhooked on the distributor! Picked it up for the brain-jarring price of $2,200. He's gonna have to shorten the front driveshaft though, it looks like it only has about an inch of compression before it bottoms out. They've got a couple other hotrods they've been debating on putting the 496 in, I'm anxious to see which way they go. The Camaro they got has a hopped up 355 that sounded great, said they would sell me that motor for $2500 but it needs bottom end bearings, thing sounded great to me!!

That body lift :buttkick:

I recently saw a BL just like that, it was on a newer Chevy van... to fit some giant hoopty wheels.

I know, we were talking options as far as that goes, it's going to be a bear whatever the solution is. I think they just wanna get out and play in it a little bit, see how it really does, but if they put that bigblock in it and launch I could see a lever effect on those body pucks, the body will be sittin at the line while the chassis keeps on truckin!

He's been doing some body work on it, talking like he's gonna get his antique tags soon, he needs to fix an axlejoint and a body mount but hopefully I can get pics of it workin a pit soon.

You are correct, all K20s are long bed. As for the 10 bolt front, they are the same between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton except the 8 lug hub assemblies.

so whats the REAL story? K10 with K20 axles under it? or cut down K20? that doesn't appear to be a longbed...
