I was getting tired of getting told that my 94 c1500 wasnt heavy enough to tow things so I was browsing for 1 ton trucks and I cam across a 1989 r3500 crew cab on craigslist

Massive coolant leak but ran and drove

Went out and looked at it heard it run for a short time and struck a deal.
$2,295
it shows 3,2xx on the clock and from looking at it i think it has only rolled over once for 103,2xx miles

had it towed home and BARELY got it into my shop

I have been working on getting it into running order.

Just a quick post before I left work.

So the truck was parked under I am guessing a truck for a long time. and the crap isnt coming completely off with pressure washing. It has been resprayed at some point.

It also has what I think is the wrong style tailgate on it.

There is a decent bit of....iffy? wiring

the bottom of the truck isnt too bad.

I dropped the transmission and found the missing freeze plug and there was another on the front drivers side of the engine. Since I was there I dropped the oil pan and cleaned it up

From the pic above the original puke tank was there but the barb was broken off and there was just a random tank knocking around in the engine bay. I went to lowes and got a threaded to barb fitting and taped out the hole where the plastic barb was and threaded in the fitting. then i roughed up the plastic around the hole and epoxied around the fitting.

I filled the cooling system (making sure there is antifreeze)
Filled the engine with 5 qts Valvoline 10w-30 and 1 qt marvel mystery oil

I put the flex plate on to balance the engine and fired it up

I ran it through 4 heat cycles and no leaks
