First off, there are two distinct eras of seat tracks, '80-older and then '81-later. '80-older had slider knobs on the side, while later seat tracks had slider knobs on the front.

As for seat and track styles, let's start of with the K5 buckets. They were the same basic design from '73-'85. They were low-back seats through mid '77, then high-back through '85. Bolt pattern was the same for both styles. Passenger folding seat latch was changed from peg style to hook style in '78. In '81 the drivers slider knob moved from the side to the front and the bolt location slightly changed at the floor. In '86, the K5 got a new design of seat tracks and seats. The new seats shared the same bolt pattern as many other GM cars of the time.

Truck bucket seats. They were the same seats as used in the K5, but with their own set of tracks and mounts. Passenger seat was stationary. '73-mid'77 were low-back, mid'77 and later were high-back. Final year of the bucket seat option seams to be unknown.

'73-'80 tracks, same seats as K5:

Jknight, if you would like to post your bucket seat pics here, that would be great:)

'81-'91 Suburban bucket seats. As far as I know, bucket seats were not offered before '81, and these seats may interchange with 80's Chevy Van seats. These tracks and floor stands could be used in regular cab pickups with minor mods. The front bolt spacing is two inches narrower than reg cab pickups (couple more holes in the floor) and the rear mounting tabs on the tracks would need bent "up" from the "down" position used in Suburbans and crew cabs. The tracks are bolted to the seats with two bolts in front, and one bolt in the rear. Bolt pattern (from outer bolts) is 14 W, 13.25 L. Driver and passenger seats use the same tracks.

In the last pics, of Suburban seat mounts, that little stand under one of the mounts, does it bolt to the floor or is it welded?

I have been wanting to do bucket seats in my truck for a while and do them with more factory-like parts than my last attempt lol. Very informative I 'll definitely be referring back to this thread!! :waytogo:

C4 those stands are factory welded to the floor in burbs and reg cabs. I bolted mine to the floor and work just as good.

Yeah, I was just mocking them up in my stepside, they are very sturdy with just 3 #8 screws holding them in. They were cut out of a donor truck and a section of donor floor still remains, I think that's partly why they are so sturdy with just a few screws holding them in.

Great info you've got here! Thanks for sharing it!

One of these days, I'll get around to welding in my bucket seat mounts...

Mine came in with the floor still attached, I ground all that off, painted them black then bolted them in with 1/4in stainless bolts. Very sturdy.

This is where I got my bucket seats. The truck apears to be an 81 or 82, so I assume that 81-87 reg cab buckets have the front slider release arm and the seat belt bolt stationary mounts.

^^^Those are the same brackets I put in mine, removed from an '80. Unless I'm looking at it wrong, the rear brackets on the pass seat are upside down. They also look like they've been reupholstered.

Another thing I forgot to mention is the seat belt receivers. The bucket seat trucks got special receivers and with a console installed, bench seat receivers won't fit. I did find out that receivers from a S-series pickup or Blazer (with buckets) are just about a direct replacement. They work so well it ain't funny.

So, I just joined this forum, mainly to ask this question. Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but, this thread is the closest I've found to having an answer.

Anyways, I have an 87 K5 that I bought without a rear bench seat, and rear benches seem to be as rare as hens teeth around here. What year blazers can I take a bench from for mine? I found a bench from a 78, would that work?

Thanks
