Bed Differences

I'm in the market for a replacement bedside for my 1982. I found a 1978 that has the same gas doors on both side but wasn't sure if there are any differences in the shape or fit.

Anybody know?

Minor differences but they will all bolt up with each other. The biggest changes in terms of fitment is with the tailgate hinges/latch systems changed slightly over the years. The filler necks changed a few times over the years. My 85 has a plastic piece that connected the filler neck to the bedside and my 79 used a metal assembly.

I guess my big worry would be the body lines. If they match it's not a worry.

No problem.
Body lines were the same from the doors back on all 73-87 trucks.

78 trucks did not have fuel doors for the filler necks. 79 and up had fuel doors.

I was just looking closer and saw that in the pictures. Stinks because this bed looks in great shape.
