Bbc heads driver side pass side does it matter?

Does it matter which side of the block the heads go to?

I can’t really tell by the bolt threads which side is front or back.

clean threads means accessories were bolted on but the threads on the heads on both sides looks lime they were used.

is there a left head or a right head?

Nope, it doesn't matter. Sometimes the bolt holes that were unused may be rusty and the threads half gone, so in that case, you would put them on so you don't have to use the crappy holes. But it sounds like you don't have that issue. The only other thing to look for is if you have a temp sender in one head. If you don't want to bother moving the sender to the other head, then put that one on the left side where it came from.

It's a good idea to chase the threads with a tap regardless of which side you're putting them on.

Just one of those little details that is pretty easy while it's on the workbench but will have you cursing later if you don't take a few minutes to do it.
