Add catalytic converter?

My 86 K10 had all the emissions stuff gone when I got it. Y pipe into muffler and out the back. Thinking of adding a catalytic converter just after the Y pipe for the smell. It’s not terrible just there. Is there much difference in what I see at summit on standard vs hi-flow cats? Read an article that said not really. Any recommendations?
