So I bought a c10 that was someone elses project...

It looks like the previous owner tried to install the AC out of a full size blazer but quit at the firewall. The controls inside the truck do not connect to anything. All I have are a collection of actuated cables that seem to move with the controls but are just zip tied up under the dash...

Does anyone have a diagram of where these would go or pictures from under the dash?

I'm not even really sure if the control panel in the truck is for a truck with ac or just heat...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wowee wow wow. Yah, you got the wrong controls in your dash and I question the wire harness also, being I see a wire nut that is not a good sign, lol. So you need to get the controls and vacuum harness at least and start from there. You got some work ahead of you.

Here is a diagram of the vacuum harness:

Take it to a pro?

So would an auto ac shop even know where to start with this? There are whole aftermarket ac systems for 1300, is that a better route?

If you can't get it kosher on your own I am sure the AC shop will rape you. May be better off with an aftermarket system but you still have to install it yourself unless you tack a labor charge to that 1300 bucks. Much cheaper for you to get the needed parts from a junkyard and then take it to get serviced and charged.

I got to say looking at those pics of the firewall area that looks like the truck was originally A/C. Usually got to hack up the firewall pretty good to get the different openings of the a/c system to match. Is there a vacuum operated door in the pass side of the cab under the dash? Can you get a pic of that area?

There is a vent hole in the front corner but there is no door or vacuum tube.

I got a little more info on my truck and at one point it was a show truck (which explains the great paint). Apparently somewhere in its past the entire custom interior was sold and the interior of some random Blazer was installed to make it drivable...

If the truck is an 81 with factory AC is there a range for AC controls that I need to look for?

I'll hit some junkyards and start looking for parts but I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have to write off the AC...
