89 suburban speedo

Hey guys, been having issues with my speedo so just throwing it out there to see if anyone has a spare laying around. I'm in Australia so would need someone who is willing to send here. Photo is my current Speedo.

It might be your cable, and if not, you may be able to get it serviced. There’s gotta be someone who fixes mechanical speedos there. What kind of issues are you having?

I don't believe it's a cable issue as the Speedo works ok when cold for 5 mins or so and then just stops working. Doesn't bounce the needle or anything that I would expect of a cable fault

Seriously though, I'd pull the thing out and spin it with a drill for a bit. I'd bet it's ok and it's a cable issue.

It's probably your speedometer cable. And be glad, because a new speedo cable is less expensive and easier to swap out than the speedometer itself. Also, you'd lose your mileage setting, or have to figure out how to roll it back.

A speedometer cable is an item that wears out over time, so worst case scenario you replace the cable and still have the issue, but now you've got a new cable instead of a crusty 30 year old one.

NO, I'm sure you know the back of the speedo has to go counterclock wise to register. I think you are just screwin with me!!!!

I actually had a brain fart about the correct direction and my mind went straight for the funny stuff. I'm very easily amused

thought I'd post an update to this - I pulled the gearbox end of the speedo cable off and hooked up my drill. 15 mins with the speedo at up around 70mph and working fine? Not too sure whats going on here as I cant replicate the issue in the shed. Still stops working on the road, however with the colder winter weather here it takes longer to drop the speedo reading
