New owner & member here! I just picked up my 87 yesterday and Im looking forward to working on it.

    Details:
SWB, Original Brown paint, original tan/brown interior, 103K on the 4.3, manual brakes & Steering, and the coolest part, 3 on the tree! It has the usual corner rot, but everything else, solid. There are quite a few road dings, but hell, Im not worried about those!

    My Plan:
-Tune up. Not sure when it was last done, but she needs it! Runs and drives ok, but just seems down on power. AC blows cold so thats a bonus!

-Brake job. I hit em hard and I had one wheel lock up and it took a bit to stop.

-Radio. The stock, Cassette am/fm is toast, so its time for a modern stereo.

-Body work & paint. Hell no!

    -Suspension. 4/6 drop

-Rims/tires. Stock steels widened and keeping the hubcaps!

-Exhaust. The CAT feel off, so Ill need to replace it with a Hi-Flow "Test" pipe.

Of course my step-daughter wants to drive it, eventhough she cant drive a manual...Hell, my whole neighborhood wants to drive it! You think I brought home a Limo or something as everyone was loving on it!

Anyway, here is a pic from yesterday when I picked it up. Ill get some more when I get home and start tearing into it.

Ill probably be lurking around in here as I hit the "SEARCH" button to find the answers to all my hundreds of questions I will have.

Welcome, looks great. If you are going to run 15 in tall and 8 inch or wider rims and lower the front using drop spindles you may run into a clearance problem with the front brake calipers and lower control arms. Nothing that a little grinding won't take care of.

The tune up helped, but the ole truck is still running sluggish. So I ordered up a new pump, fuel level sender, fuel filter, air filter and...

    A Bell Tech 4/6 kit!

I figure, if its gonna be slow, might as well be low!:Big Laugh:

You never know how thankful you are for something so simple as a gauge, until its broke. Ive been driving the truck around guessing how much fuel it had in it, till today. Fuel level is fixed, Idiot H2O light is fixed and changed the oil as well.

    Changed the fuel filter also.

Rear rims came in. Will be Powdercoating them black after I trial fit them.

    Up next...
Install the Bell Tech 4/6 kit with the SP shocks. Installing new control arm bushings and probably the rear leaf spring bushings as well.

My 6 and 7 year old daughters Love riding in the truck! They say, "we like it because we get to sit in the Front seat!" :laughing1:

My kids say the same thing. I guess I never thought about it but I never realized how big a deal it was since we never had to worry about things like that when I was a kid.
