I got a quote today of $3600 to take my other 454 I have and basically return me a fresh 489/496 (depending on what the block requires) long block using Eagle crank and rods, Mahle pistons, Comp roller cam and lifters, Clevite bearings, etc. All quality parts I believe. I've always used Scat products, never used Eagle, but I've seen a lot of Eagle stuff used. I thought that was a pretty competitive price though.

Thoughts??? I'm going to think on it.

As long as the shop is gonna go over every machined part of that crank and not just chuck it in. Don’t be surprised if they have machine the journals to get them into spec.

TRUST ME! You'll hate the constant vibration feeding back to the entire truck if you use polyurethane, mine lasted a year, before I got tired of that and changed them back

I finally got around to changing out all the plugs, butting on some extra nice heat shields for the plug boots, some new MSD plug wires, and holy shit this big block will pull like a freight train!!! The new ignition, intake, carb, wires, dizzy, and all really woke it up. I'm gonna run it like this for awhile as I see no need to replace the engine with a 489 yet.

Only thing left for me to do now is get the tranny swapped out since my current one has a bearing squealing, then do some work on the outside to make it look better (replace bumper strip on sides, bedliner everything below that bump strip, and tint the windows). I'm getting damn close to calling it done.

My most current pics have been posted, except for the new plug wires and boot heat shields I guess. It just runs damn good now. I've been using it for my daily now. 454 likes the gasoline though...........:happy175:

Things are good with the truck. I'm now finally healed up from my wreck, settled up with insurance last week, so life is finally returning to normal. I've just been playing with it and using it to pull my camper from time to time. It runs so damn good since I redid the ignition system with the MSD dizzy and 6al ignition box, and threw on the new intake and carb. Its now a nice rig with solid air conditioning.

I am going to finally get my new (to me) SM465 installed next week. Being injured from the wreck really slowed me down. Tranny I have now leaks badly.

Glad to hear your on the mend and ready to get back at it. Slow take off as you well know. Can't expect to be like you were before for awhile, but hopefully you'll work back into it and be the same again soon.
