I will check out my dads wheel pile when Im back that way later this week. If I find split rims I will destroy them rather than sell them to you haha.

I saw a set of hummer wheels on ebay for $200, split wheel but 16.5". Is there a reason they have to be 16"? I wish like hell I could get those hummer wheels for myself.

Summit, National Tire & Wheel, etc carry 8-lug 15" wheels. Pro Comp wheels being the cheapest.

Cant understand why 16.5s would be outlawed?? That's a pretty standard truck wheel size.

Correct me if I am wrong, but those are split rim wheels if they are 16.5 inches. The tires also have a square bead if I remember right. Split rims should be outlawed, those things killed and injured way to many people.

Not all 16.5" wheels are split-rim. I want the hummer wheels for my mud truck, not daily highway driving.

Nope, not all 16.5 wheel are split rim. GM used them on SB's up to 77 that I am positive of, not sure how much further after that. My 84-88 Sb s are 16. I had a 64 GMC that had 8 lug 16.5 and my buddy across the street had a 77 3/4 with 8 lug 16.5's.

My grandfather had a steel plate in his head from changing a split rim tire roadside on his coal truck he was driving long long ago. You wanted to see someone come unglued, yell or set off a firecracker. He said the plate vibrated and amplified loud noises. He'd freak around loud noises or pounding.

The good thing about the hummer wheels is not just the lug nuts hold the halves together, there's about 8 big bolts that also hold em together. They also have the integrated bead locks/run flats that I lust after. Trail repairs on a flat would be uber easy as well.

I might have something. I just sold a 16in white ford rim that was 8 lug for $20 locally. I do have a 8 lug split rim unknown if its a dodge, ford, or gm.

Do the world a favor and scrap that split rim, unless you just want to keep it for a conversation piece, about how they kill people. Granted its people being stupid, but nevertheless, they are dangerous. I don't know of anyone who will mount a tire on a split rin for a passenger car or light truck anymore. They'll still do it for Medium and Heavy Duty trucks, but they are safety caged before they work with them.

I think 16.5 wheels are a thing of the past. I know some still use them though. I forget the cut off year, I'm think late 70's is when GM went to 16's on the squares. Not sure though.
