My pap recently gave me his 78 K20 since he doesn’t use it anymore, I’ve loved this truck since I was a kid. It’s definitely a little rough and needs some work but does run and drive so that’s a start atleast I guess. Basically my plan is too pull everything but the cab itself (needs a new bed and fenders) clean up the frame, maybe do a 2 inch lift, and get the truck back on the road! Not gonna be the fastest project but I’ll try to keep this updated anytime I do some work on it!

So first step was getting the old bed off, the frame honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be for being 40 years old in PA (first picture is before) still have some more to do on the back and the whole front half but this is after one solid day of wire wheeling/brushing!

Great project. Don't get rid of those hub caps, especially the fronts. They're hard to come by.

Definitely not bad for where you are! Nice floor drain, too

So as promised progress has been slow, my work schedule sucks and I barely get anytime to work on the truck unfortunately. Pretty much have the rear part of the frame ready for paint. Pretty pleased with how clean it came for a 40 year old PA truck! I’ve heard lots of good things about POR-15 and was gonna use that on the frame if anyone had any experience with that good or bad I’d appreciate the input.

I also took the visor off today, I don’t plan on putting it back on and it’s in good shape so if anyone wants it and is willing to come pick it up I’d be more than happy to part with it for free!

Got the hood and inner fenders off yesterday. Surprisingly only had to “persuade” one bolt to get it out which was cool! Couldn’t believe how much room their is under the hood either C3A9F6B0-F378-4BE3-843D-2D3704104DDA.jpeg 05AB2644-CEB9-45DD-9E1C-F2357C78E7F0.jpeg FDB0450B-0641-4C8D-87B0-2542F83851B5.jpeg

So this past weekend got the majority of the disc brake conversion done! Just have a few things to button up and brakes should be good to go. The kit I got was from Lugnut 4x4 and everything worked great

Got the fenders off today, surprisingly everything came out pretty easy! Gonna clean off the front half of the frame and then once the brakes are done spray everything down with degreaser and spray it off at the car wash then it’ll be ready for paint
