    My rigged choke kinda works. It starts right up but the choke pulls open too fast and it dies. So it takes a little bit of throttle action to keep it running at first. When the throttle is let off, it may or may not die. But if it does die, it's just a matter of pumping the throttle to reset the high idle and then restarting the engine. It'll do for now.

    As inexpensive of a wear item a fuel filter is, I'd replace it with a new one, and then run a tank full of a good gas additive like Lucas and see how it runs

    The offending fuel filter has been pitched, there's now a Jegs canister filter with a replaceable filter cartridge. I actually tried a bottle of Lucas somewhere in Tennessee I think it was. It's seen several tanks of fuel since then.

    The replacement Holley carb I tried to run had 2 brand new filters in it.
