I want to switch out the fuel gauge foe tachometer on my 77 K10. LMC has a kit but says 78 and up only. Does anyone know if it works on 77 or if here is another option out there besides the whole new kit for $800. I thought there used to be a guy that you could send it to, and he would do the conversion.....????

Depends on what's in the kit. The pinouts on the '76-'77 connector were different than the '78+ cluster.

The font was different as well. IIRC, it changed again in 81 or 83.

Be careful with that, most of those are for a diesel engine and will not work on a gas engine. The use different inputs.

The big difference between the early dash and the 78 up is the idiot light window at the bottom of the gauge. The later gauge has a double size window. I would think you could make it work.

You need to move wires around either way. Add a little Dremel tool work and your done.
