My fiance got me a 75 Firebird Espirit for my birthday. Gen 2 Firebirds have been my dream car for a long time. Now I have one! It's just a roller atm, no engine, trans, or interior. The body is straight and the only rust is the drivers side floor pan. It was an Espirit with a 350/th350.

Long term I plan to stroke a Pontiac 400 out and back it up with a 5 or 6 speed manual. Swap the front to the 70-73 style and a formula hood, maybe Trans Am fenders with the vents. In the short term I think I'll focus on repairing the rust damage then stripping the floor and underside then coating it in an epoxy primer, then lizard skin, and an epoxy chassis coating on top. And I'll be keeping an eye out for a craigslist Pontiac 400 and a transmission. I'm thinking a th350 or 700r4, from my vin search it probably has a 2.73 rear gear so I'm leaning towards a th350. Now I haven't actually seen it myself, it's back in Montana and I'm in Chicago over the summer for an internship.

Oh, I know some of you guys have Camaros and Firebirds, what's a good forum for F bodies? I've tried to join firebirdnation but it's been buggy as hell, can't even get a validation email through and no one has responded to my questions.

Sounds like your fiance is a real keeper!

Or don’t like him and figured she’d get him this to keep him busy and away from her. Lol just saying. There is always a flip side to every story or event.

Does my old 1981 Trans Am count?

It had a $2500 Poncho 406 in it and it wouldn't stay cool. Ever.

Didn’t know you were engaged. Is this the same girl you’ve been with since you’ve been on here? I’m assuming yes since that was a real nice thing to do. If she doesn’t complain about you working on it, she’s a keeper. Nice car, though!

Nice bird. Good luck with the build. FBN had a lot of knowledgeable guys back when I was active. Do they have an email address or open public forum that you can post your registration issue to? Thats only 2nd gen inclusive board I belong to. LS1tech being another that has a lot knowledgeable people but it may be harder to find a 2nd gen specific answer.

Thanks, I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions, especially since the previous owner pulled it apart instead of me.
That she is

Are you going to be painting it the blue that's in the door jambs? There's an early 70's one that runs around my town that color, with white strips. Sharp looking car.

I'll be keeping the wheels for at least a while, we'll see if I like how they fit in as it comes together.

81 still counts, I prefer the early front but it's still a bird!
The Poncho motor is a must for me, just part of the package
