Hello, Love the forum. Just bought my neighbors 1975 Chevy C-20 truck. He bought it new in 1975 and recently passed away. His wife wanted me to fix it up some and keep it going. He bought it as a 2WD then converted it to 4WD at some point. I have no idea what he did or what stuff he has under it. Time to start figuring out what I have and what I need to do to it.
Like... post some pics bro... and you know... we can tell you. Totally tubular score. Like ... far out man.
Converting to 4WD is a big job, so its hard to tell what he did. You also need to figure out what drivetrain he used. Probably most common in '75 for a 4WD would be 350/TH350/NP203, but other choices were available. Most folks find its easier to swap a good 2WD cab over to a 4WD frame and drivetrain, but even then you need to worry about the 2WD hump over the transfer case being tall enough to clear. However, in '75 the hump was bolted in, so swapping is not that difficult. Bruce
Welcome from Oregon! Like others have said, post some pics so we can see what you've got to start with!
I figured it would be a big job. Everything seems to work fine it just needs some love. The original 350 4 bbl is still in it and hasn't really been worked on. The odometer shows around 86,000 but his wife said it may have turned over once or twice.
Here are a few pics. Couple pics of the front and rear axles. A lot of the panels have been replaced as you can see. Lots of leaks all over the place. My plan with the truck is get it mechanically sound (engine, trans, brakes, axles, etc) Paint it and work on the interior (bench seat and dash).
