This is a one family truck that my dad gave me when I retired from the Air force. My son is helping and it will be his truck in the future. So she has been torn down, and we are at the clean up/repair stage!

so far we haven't had any issues with removing anything. A couple of area's of rust passenger side front clip, tub will need to be replaced. Rocker on the same side needs some attention. 068.jpg

I will have a lot of left over parts, engine wise if anyone is looking for something let me know! This is what the engine looks now! But I have everything that goes with it.

good job. You can spray those exhaust manifolds with Ospho (after cleaning with a brush) and let them sit overnight. Then spray them with Rust-o-leum Ultra high heat spray paint. I did it to my LS manifolds and they still look as good as they did when I sprayed them. No chipping or anything yet (4 months run time).

Keeping the sm465/205 combo! live in norcal, Not a lot of highway driving and she's going to be used mostly for cruising to the lake with a bass boat attached.

The sm465/205 is what my 77 had in it, great combo. I installed the NV4500 for the overdrive, I intend to drive my truck a lot. One thing you may want to check is the coupler that connects the 465 out put shaft to the 205 input shaft. Mine was worn to the of failing soon. Even the 465 out put shaft was worn to the point of needing to be replaced if I were going to reuse it.

Took me a few days to get all the snarf off the trans/diff but they are on the way to get a overhaul.

Still cleaning up the frame have a co worker that does powder coating, so front and rear axles are coming off and the frame is slowly getting stripped of rust and paint. found the steering box area cracked so that is going to be repaired also.

ok question for those paying attention. What color should the sm465/np205 be? Not that this is a restore back to original but both have been rebuilt, resealed and they are stripped ready for paint? Should I just clear coat the Sm465 and factory red the np205? Or just both black to match the frame?
