My 73 has recently started to go through fuel pumps at an alarming rate. Today makes number 4 in the last 3-4 months.. Anybody else had this problem or have any ideas? Stock 305 all new rubber clean steel lines new/clean filter and new sending unit with new in tank sock filter. All 4 pumps began leaking out the weep holes in less than a month..

What brand? Lifetime warranty? Where were they made?

I've had 2 parts (water pumps) bad out of the box before. It does happen time to time with rebuilt parts.

Yeah I don’t believe it’s anything wrong with the motor, did you clean the tanks out at all? Just crap fuel pumps is my opinion

Can't remember the brand. All 4 are the same. Bought from AutoZone and they do have the lifetime warranty so I can just get another one but this will make the 5th on since I've had it.

I think I would try a better brand. Here's all you need to know about an autozone warranty

And that right there is discount auto parts/tools/etc in a nutshell. Fantastic! I forgot how spot-on that movie was!

The AC Delco has a limited lifetime and some of their lower tier product lines have been outsourced to other countries so it might just be a piece of crap with a good name on it. I’d go with the Delphi or even the Spectra. My Delphi has 20,000 miles and counting.

Very true about outsourcing. My new AC Delco wiper switch was made in China!:flame:

" NOT all V-8 Chevy mechanical fuel pumps are the same !!!!!!"
I am guessing you have a fuel pump rod length and arm difference issue.
Check your correct part #s again

Pump turned out to be a Delphi brand. Swapped it for a new one. I changed the filters and sending unit after I put the previous pump on. The engine in it is supposedly a 305 H.O., truck came factory with a 350. I can't remember if I gave the parts store info on a 305 or 350.

No not the original tank. Tank was salvaged from a 76 step side, so the tank is tiny..
