I'd say it just depends on which bits and pieces you can more easily obtain.

Autozone has a great assortment of E brake cables. If it were me (it will be here real soon) I would stick with the newer driver side run. I'm putting a 3/4 ton FF rear axle in my Blazer, and that's what I plan on doing...

Ok here’s what I did. I went new. I got some kindorf or strut mounted that to underneath cross members drilled a 5/8” hole for cable on passenger side and installed clip to hold my. On driver side I just drilled out factory bracket. I bought the LMC cable repair kit and some 1/8 ferrule and stop kits and turnbuckles for H Depot along with a wall/ceiling pulley. I had some hd aluminum angles squirreled away and used 1 to mount the pulley to frame on driver s and 1 cut drilled to make a connector to mate pedal cable to turnbuckles

From what I can see, if it works, good job!
IIWY tho, I'd put a lock-nut on each side of the cable adjusters. Just my 2 cents.

Works great, not sure I’m done adjusting yet I might need more slack and some kind of spring setup to keep tension on the cables. Time and use will tell, thanks for your 2cents I appreciate it!
