Does anyone know the difference in output shaft length between 2wd and 4x4 versions of the 700R4? Google is currently failing me and I only have 2wd 700's around here.

4WD is 13 3/4:
2WD is 18 1/2"

Awesome thanks! Looks like a can't combine vehicles and hack together a yard truck that way. Unless some real hackery goes on.

I know there are versions of a 4l80e and 6l80e that can be cut for a Tcase but so far as I have ever seen the 4l60E and 700R4 only came with a shaft that was splined up to a certain point, necessitating the need to swap the output shaft.

I'm personally trying to hunt down one of the 4l80's either in 4wd trim or a 2wd version I can cut, so I knew exactly why you were asking, lol.

It would be super duper hack, but I could probably double up on fitsall spacers. I wonder if it would actually work and hold up.... I feel dirty from even wondering, lol.

It's just that I have this rotted out 4x4 Burb, it currently sits without transmission and the TBI 350 is completely hosed. I also have a completely rotted Camaro with a TBI 305 and 700R4. It's very high miles and the engine uses some oil, but it runs like a raped ape and the trans was overhauled in the past too. I just want the Burb to yard drive to tug stuff around.

Too bad you're not closer to NC. I'd show you how to swap that shaft yourself. It's not terrible.

I've thought about doing that too. If I screw something up, it's not like I've lost anything important.

The Burb had a good and beefed up trans in it, also a 700. I pulled it out and sold it to a friend. I wonder if he still has his junk trans.
