What are you all running in your tranny? I am contemplating if I should go RP ATF or a reg ole DEX IV and change it out more often. I will be dropping the cover and swapping out the filter. Or would a flush be more beneficial? Just looking for everyones 2 cents.

I've run SuperTech from Walmart for 5+ years in both 700R4 and TH350s. No problems.

Haven't touched it since I put it in the 84', which I guess was actually closer to 4 years than 5. Caprice has run it since I changed it in March of 2014.

So, no change interval at this point, really. :p They don't see a lot of miles.

I have used synth dex on 4l80e and always used regular valvoline dex IV on 700r4/4l60e/th350 from walmart. Did not have enough miles put on either change of fluid to think about changing again. Would probably be about 30k miles.

Been using the house brand from O'Reilly auto parts in my 700R4 for 3 years with no issues. Started using that primarily cause tranny used to leak about a quart a month (till I found all the leaks).
Have a Dodge with 270k miles on it, never have changed that transmission fluid, drove it off the showroom floor in 2005.

Ran RP on my "rebuilt" 700r4. Grenaded a year later with barely 5000 miles on it. Not the fault of the oil but the fault of the "rebuilder" which was not me.

There is a reason i have a spare 700r4 sitting in the garage at all times. Even if i do not have a vehicle that uses one anymore. I friend borrowed it last time for about a month while getting his rebuilt. Any 700r4 that i drive, try to be nice with 2-3 shift unless i am testing it.(or other unusual events)

That's a good idea. I am going to get the tools and rebuild the one that is in it now after I replace it with the one I am getting from you.

I also use this, it meets almost every spec for nearly every trans, certainly in the 700r4.

So sounds like we have a ton of bargain fluid runners here and an RP man. I guess it all depends on what I want to spend in the end. I can go high or low end and work out fine either way.

My whole theory is all fluid has to meet certain specifications and it is periodically inspected to make sure it does meet them. So, anything else is just marketing.

Of course, you'd have to get all scientific and run two identical trucks side by side to failure to determine a real difference.

That's not a bad idea since you can get it all locally easily.
