Hi All,

I've got a question for you all in regards to the air injection ports on a 454 exhaust manifold. Im looking at removing the air pump and all the pipework (I dont need to worry about emissions stuff here). I'd like to know what size plugs would be required to block up the manifolds once the pipes are removed. I'd check myself but I'm currently at work and a 2hr flight away from home and wont be back until Tuesday. I'd like to have an idea of what I need before I start pulling stuff out. This is on my 89 burb.

my research shows that the pipe plugs needed are metric. so that makes sense, but of course who carries those locally...

Youll need to order.

But a standard size in a 7/8 - 18, im reading that it was a pipe thread. this is from a website about pluggging AIR on pre 91 454
a dorman 65231 drain plug reportedly works well. comments say 350 but OP says 454

I just cut the tubes off mine, drove a small piece of round stock into the holes, and welded them

i think the 88 and earlier applications had different size holes from what i researched. like, not threaded for pipe, just pressed in with a lip. on the last years of 454 tbi with air, the lines were NPT and i guess that would be quicker ifthey come out willingly.otherwise could tap the hole left on the tube
