2000 Suburban

The cluster in my Suburban stated acting up. When I go to crank it, the warning lights flash on and off in random order and the gauge needles bounce around. It has only happened twice. It has gone back to the way it's supposed to after a several seconds.

Any thoughts?

Pull it and clean the connections. If that don't help, some places rebuild them.

Iirc, there were some years that the clusters were problematic, and needed to be replaced, which required the info stored in them to be reflashed. I don't know what years were affected however.

I had an '05 Suburban. Most of the issues with that series of trucks was the stepper motors in the gauges. My voltage meter went out, then the gas gauge. I had a local company rebuild it for under $200.

I ordered a replacement for my 2004 from OEMradios.com. it was under $200, and I told them the mileage to program. I think I had to return the old one or pay a core charge.

The cluster on my 03 was changed out under a recall. Not sure what years had a recall.
It never gave me trouble, but my brother's 04 GMC did go haywire.
