My 1985 K20 has an RPO Code 1G80 Locking Differential in the 14bolt SF rear axle. Is this any good? Anything special I need to do when I change the gear oil?

Thanks

it's not great but being a 14 bolt it's alot stronger then the 10 bolt versions, the 10 bolts are known as gov bomb, instead of gov lock. Basically when it spins , it throw the weights and locks in both wheels, almost like positrac.

I would use the limited slip differential oil only, or at least get the additive to go in the reg. gear oil for it.

G80 is referred to as a GOV BOMB for a reason. If you dont off road it, you should be fin< but they are not trail rated.

Use the additive for limited slip differentials.
