This is the new project
New lift and tires tomorrow
Ok so this took way longer than it should have. There is rust everywhere broke on of the ends off the metal brake line had to bend another one and every bolt took some extra effort but the lift is on now next is some patch panels and then?
4 inch lift?
How does it ride? Those used to be some fairly stiff springs, but maybe they have adjusted the rate in recent years.
Don't forget to re-torque your U bolts a few times after some miles.
Hard to believe it has rust issues as good as it looks. I take it that it hasn't been in Cali its whole life.
The springs are pretty stiff and it sits a little higher in the front I think I’m gonna take one leaf out of it and see if that sets it down a little bit and maybe that will help with the ride also. Yeah already re-torque the bolts once after driving it for a day or so. No this truck originally came from New Hampshire which I’m sure is where all the rust started but has been in Reno for at least a few years I picked it up pretty cheap because of the rust but the outside the body looks pretty darn good paint needs to be taken care of and a couple little dints but it does look pretty good
Took 2 leaves out of my rough country lift pack fixed the ride hight and steering a bit but The springs are still really stiff
Ok been a busy year an I have learned I have a problem
Problem #1 is a 1978 k5 and problem #2 is a 1989 Jimmy with 4 link front suspension and it came with a 6.0 last 4l80e
I now have 3 k5’s at my house
More than 2 is overkill - 1 as a primary, 1to drive when primary is down ...
Congrats on your problems !
More '78 pics, by chance?
Put an ord shackle flip with 3/4 ton springs and easy rid front springs on it and put the Yukon third row seats in the back
