Heres my belated build thread on an 8' stepside bed. Not finished yet, still mulling over some small details which i might ask for suggestions for, so not ready for white paint just yet.

utility style toolboxes Stahl made that were meant to bolt in place of the 8' stepside's fenders.

All i had to go by as far as
measurements and shape were an old mostly rotted 8' stepside bed that was made into a trailer and a restored 6' stepside of the same style that i was duplicating.

I thought i had pictures of the bed sides as well as the floor with supports welded but cant seem to find them. You can all use your imaginations though...

Clearly a little short on pics. Lemme know what you all want to see if you're interested.

I think it looks good! I've never seen a utility setup like that, but it's very streamlined. I like the original color, myself, but it'd look good no matter what. What are the plans from here?

Back in the 90's a friend had the same bed set up on his K20 after they wore the original fleetside bed out from use at their contruction company.

    Thanks everyone.

Id like to figure out some steps for the front of the tool boxes, new tail lights to replace the temporary ones i have on it now, and ladder racks.

I'm thinking that the last time I saw a setup like that, the tails were led and recessed in the box/fender. Pretty sure I saw that on here too.

Yeah i was thinking red recessed lights in the boxes and white led light bar between the bottom of the tailgate and the bumper- Surface mounted to the rear crossmember of the bed- for reverse lights. Plus auxiliary switch to turn it on as a work light in back.

    Update:

Replaced the hood with a used one that was in better condition than the old one, found a crappy aftermarket grille of the same year and replaced the rad support. Also got some paint on her. I’m in the USCG, stationed in VA. No trailer down here. Cant figure out the logistics enough to justify the trip. [IMG]

That is pretty bad-ass. I like the combined rarity of the 8' step bed and the utility box fenders.

Thanks! Boxes were a lucky find out of a barn next door to my uncles place.
Thanks, a big improvement in both looks and durability. Should hold off rot for a bit longer. Relocating from CT to VA CANT HURT EITHER

I like that truck alot. I've got a buddy that has a 70-72 truck with a bed like that on his. To the best of my knowledge it was a factory upfitter bed. Though I've never seen any literature about it.
