I am new to the forum. I'm sure you guys get alot of this. I have questions I'm sure lots of you guys can answer. First off I have 2 c10s. 1 is a 1983 c10 that is a roller. The other is a 78 C10 complete truck that needs work. Originally I was going to swap frames and suspension but now I'm having second thoughts. My questions are... and I know I will get a ton of different answers. Based on the pictures and the quality of work. Would it be better to sell by parting it out or sell as a whole. The cab was set up to be a track truck. This should be easy to make stock again. All parts are new. Just mocked up. Nothing is even tightened own. I am just looking for a starting point. Thank you for checking it out.

Welcome from Austria. I think you get more $ for the parts as for the whole project.

As clean as the (I wouldn’t exactly call it a roller, looks like a cab and a bare chassis) I’m assuming 83 is, it’s not worth much of anything unless you can un-track all that crap and turn it back into a normal cab and a chassis. There’s value in the front end parts probably. But you’ll need to find someone who wants a whole bare cab and someone doing a frame off that wants the frame.
Honestly what you have is not really what 95% of people fixing up an old truck want, imo.
Assume you were just asking about the cab and the notched chassis.
Also not really a question. If you’re getting rid of it, put it for sale. Put a price to the major parts and see what you get.
If you were in the rust belt, those parts might be of more value.

my 10c - start with what you want to achieve - do you want a stock daily driver, a fun pseudo race truck, or cash ?

Every truck that gets parted out is one less potentially on the road - this impacts the hobby, and the viability of the spare parts manufacturers, so my vote is NOT to part anything out ( sermon over ).

Having said that, what is wrong with a street race / autocross truck ? - I have one and think they are great fun. One of the reasons I got into trucks to start with was that you could get all the GM muscle car options ( performance and luxury ) at a fraction of the price. This can be witnessed by the rapid increase in truck prices ( especially SWB high option ) over the last few years.

Depending on the condition of the more complete truck, you will have to make a decision as to what you will do to drive it - just the bare basics to get it on the road, or a "full" restoration. If you are going the full route, you are prolly going to pull it all down to a bare shell and frame anyway, so re-building the good frame you already have will mean you are ahead..
