I think that's some of the information that you get from the GM heritage center when you send them $50 for the inquiry.

Yeah, me too! I didn't know that this info was available for pre-'90 trucks.

For GMC's the earliest they have is 1976 and for Chevy is 1977.

Cool! My '77 K5 is my oldest, and also one of my biggest mysteries.

Got gas? Now I do. 130cf, $140 for a 5 year lease, $70 a fill and the first one was half off ($35) so right at $185 for it. Not a terrible price I think (praxair wanted $200 for a 5 year lease itself).
    IMG_20181012_175242109.jpg The machine.
IMG_20181012_185401864.jpg Type 17 torch, euro style (switch on torch body), 1/16 Ceriated tungsten and #4 nozzle. Ill order some 3/32 collets and larger nozzles.
IMG_20181012_185407827.jpg The first welds. Not terrible for squatting with the piece on a 4x4 and a non auto darkening helmet. Pretty smooth arc, around the same as the Precision tigs at the school shop.

Made and welded in a patch on the firewall below the bulkhead connector. Around 40 amps, 1/16 ceriated tungsten, 0.035 er70s-6 mig wire as filler. Quick lick with the da locked out and it cleaned up nicely. I ordered up a kit with standard nozzles and stubby gas lenses.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Don't be so modest. You're a great teacher through experience.
