16” steel 8 lug wheel

Does anyone know the width of the wider steel wheels used on the 4x4 8 lug? I thought it was 9.5” but I’m not finding anything. Maybe just 8”? I’m going for the look in the attached pic.

That picture looks to be an 8" wheel due to the pinched in look. I know the truck in the first picture has 285's with an 8" wheel. My truck is running 305/70/16's with 16x10's and have a more squared off look. The hubs on my D60 do not protrude beyond the outer edge of the rim with a 4.5" BS.

Wheel Vintiques makes a 16x10 steel wheels with a 5" BS. About $150 each at Summit Racing.

Thanks for the link. I looked on Summit before but must have missed them. That’s exactly the look I want.

I’m not sure what all was available from the factory, but my one ton came with 16x6.5” stock. I just assumed all the factory 8 lug 16s were 6.5” wide.

The after market wide steelies are pretty cool looking and at $150 per, aren’t a terrible deal considering the powder coat shops around me want $100 a wheel for already blasted and cleaned stockers.

That’s the only issue I have is a buck fifty a whack and I’ll still need to get them powder coated. It looks like they don’t sell them in white.

All the 8 lug 16" wheels where 6.5" until 2010 (Dually's were 16x6). The old 16.5" were 8.25" wide. I don't know if the 9.75" steels were an available from the factory or possibly a dealer option. A lot of trucks back in the day ran these in the rear.

You are right about the 8.25 and 9.75 widths, and the one in the first post appears to be an 8.25 with rim.

The standard 16.5" rims were probably 6.25 and 6.75. I don't remember ever measuring them to know that for sure.

I remember seeing a lot of 3/4 ton 2wd trucks in the late 70’s running them on the rear. It was a redneck thing in our part of the country to mount a couple of big mud tires on the back. My brother had one. Lol. I’m working on a frame up resto and the truck came with a brand new set of 35” BFG’s mounted on wagon wheel style wheels and painted black and I had planned to blast them and PC them but when I stripped everything down I found they were 15x10 and they were rubbing on the calipers so I want to go back with 16” and I just like the look.

Forget the powder coat. MRO High Solids white spray paint.

You can find it as cheap as $10 a can. Takes forever to dry. When it does, very durable.

Most les schwab stores can take wheels for powder coat. I’ve taken several sets in. They ship them off somewhere. Takes a week to get them back. They only charge $25-30 each wheel blasted and coated. Always come out great.

Not bad at all. I had a diff cover done locally and they charged $45
