10 Bolt Tie Rod question

I don't like the looks of it. If you run it like this I would loosen the clamps and slide both out toward the ends a ways and then retighten just to get more coverage over the solid part of the tie rod.

I agree. I figured there should be threads showing in the slot like my original. I am not only concerned with thread engagement, but with strength if the rod had to flex up and down a little. I thought to push the clamps out but I have just ordered new parts from Rock Auto.

I'm glad to hear that. I was about to recommend buying new. Last week I ordered both tie rod ends and the adjuster for less than $100 at LMC. Just not worth chancing it with this
