HOLY CRAP @ that red car launching at 3:45. he goes a far way on two damn wheels looks smooth and easy. You can see that mugg really digs in about HALF WAY through that WHEEL STAND and boy that's exciting to see! Wow.I watched it a bunch.
Cool footage. Watching any form of drag racing just makes me nervous now. You can hear the noise from the top fuel cars all the way up Baldwin Mountain when they run. It's been there literally my entire life as it opened 45 years ago in 1975. They have everything from test and tunes and swap meets all the way up to events like the Southern Nationals. One of those things you just take for granted until you are in danger of losing it. The area where it's located is right off I-85 in between Atlanta and Greenville. When it first opened up there was just a couple of truck stops off that exit. Now there are all of these "outlet malls" popping up like mushrooms overnight. I'm sure there's some real estate developer out there right now just licking his chops with dreams of another stucco strip mall or "mixed income housing" dancing through his head as he gleefully rubs his hands together. If this place closes I think the closest track will be like an hour and a half drive away. Hopefully it will remain a dragstrip but I'm not getting my hopes up.
