Well crap
I had that very same thing happen to me when I bought a truck I needed for work. I dropped the pan and lowered the crankshaft and rods, cleaned both and sprayed brake cleaner through the crank passages. I installed all new bearing with assembly grease, and torqued crank and then rods. I replaced...- cland13

I think you would be better served with 4:30 gears as you will still get the launch you need and will be better on the street. I ran an s10 with 383 / 400 4:30 gears and 14-32 slicks, constantly was in low 10's- cland13

modern size wheels that fit squarebody chevies
These are the wheels I am running on my 84. They are from the older jeeps that are 5 x 5 and they are 16" x 8". They fit well, but need the lower control arms trimmed slightly so the a arm and wheel don't touch during a hard turn.- cland13
