    Booster/Jump Start Packs

No vehicle has a charging system that was meant to recover dead batteries, they are only meant to power the vehicle systems and MAINTAIN a battery charge. You cannot reliably gain a full charge from a vehicles charging system due to several variables which could alter the charging process...

    Booster/Jump Start Packs

Why jump a mower battery? If the battery is low enough on a charge to not spin a mower you are better off throwing it on a trickle charger. The charging systems on those small engines wasn't made to recharge a dead battery, only to maintain a charge.

    Washing Red Shop Rags

Disposables have a use, but so the textile rags are nice too. There are a bunch of options when it comes to cleaning the rags. The first is obviously the local laundry. Check the ones that are closest to you to see if they offer a washer that is for work clothes or rags only. If they don't...

My v-belt to serpentine belt conversion

The block typically isn't the issue, it's the heads. Older heads may not have all of the bosses drilled and tapped to receive all of the bolts that the serpentine system requires for mounting.

    Heater/AC Ducts Repairs/Mods Talk

My advice would be to buy a blend door clip (LMC, GM) ahead of time so that you have it on hand. Yours might not be broken yet, but it's always better to replace it if you are going to have the dash apart anyway. Think of it as preventative maintenance. While you are working on the duct work I...

'89 350 TBI Motor Accesory Bracket Mounting Bolt Locations

Belt size and routing remains the same as long as you are just swapping out the compressor for the pulley. If you are making other changes at the same time (deleting a smog pump for example) then you would have to change things up. Going thru your link, Amazon has it for $27.49 with free...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

Well, lets start out with the easy "free" things to check. When the truck is cool, give the lower radiator hose a squeeze to see if the anti-collapse spring is inside of it. Sometimes they get tossed aside and not put back in. Next give the timing a once over. Make sure your base timing is...

    carb to tpi

That all depends on what you want to spend... :) Realistically speaking a camshaft, heads and a full exhaust will get a lot of power freed up for you right off the bat. You can run vortec heads, but you'll need to buy the TPI vortec intake to go with it. There are a few companies out there...

    carb to tpi

http://www.chevythunder.com/fuel%20injection%20ecm%20pinouts.htm Swapping in that engine is a decent idea as long as the engine is good and you don't mind upgrading the fuel system in the truck. I had a firebird with a TPI years back. While the car wasn't anything outstanding for power (bone...

    front brake hoses suck

Oh it's a joke on a 4x4. You have all the room in the world to work around the connections. I actually came into this thread wondering how anyone could have issues with changing the hoses out on a truck before I noticed he was talking about a 2wd. :anitoof:

    ac needs help plz advice

Take out the glovebox. Behind the glovebox is the climate control box. There will be a piece of ductwork that you need to remove from the climate control box. It should be held in place with 2 screws to the box and another screw that attaches it to the next ductwork piece above it. Carefully...

Coolant Temp - Just checking if normal

If you were moving at the time and had good airflow going through the condenser and radiator your temperature should not be going that high. I'd check the condenser and radiator for blockage either by debris or bent fins. Be sure to check both sides and also between the two by unbolting the...

    Totaled my truck today-need advice

I'm glad to hear you were able to walk away from the accident and are in good shape considering. When someone tells me about a 70mph accident, I usually think of the worst. Insurance companies pay out by the book. When they total a vehicle they look up the current NADA value for it. Then, if...
